From news at neringa.org Tue Oct 20 08:23:06 2009 From: news at neringa.org (news at neringa.org) Date: Tue, 20 Oct 2009 08:23:06 -0500 Subject: [NeringaNews] All Souls - Kulbis Tombstone Blessing Message-ID: <20091020082306.jlxv7149ccc0048g@webmail.neringa.org> Priminti ir pakviesti Lietuvoje Velines iseigine (ne darbo) diena. VISI, visi keliauja i namus, i teviske, ir lanko kapines, tvarko kapus ? savo ir greta esanciuju. Visas krastas sustoja, prisimena, meldziasi. Baznyciose, po Veliniu dienos per sekancias septynias dienas, vyksta maldos uz mirusiuosius procesija. Iseivijoje to nepazinojau. Iseivijoje sioji Veliniu diena (lapkricio 1-2) nepastebimai praeina; o Lietuvoje visu demesys sutelktas prisimti ir gerbti mirusius. Tad, kvieciu, prisiliesti prie sios tradicijos ir lapkricio 1d. atvykti i Putnama 10 val. Misiom, dalyvauti seseliu remeju pasitarime, papietauti ir po pietu isijungti i maldas uz mirusius, i eisena iki kapiniu, ir kartu su kitais, dalyvauti a.a. Antano Kulbio, stovyklautojo ir vadovo, paminklo pasventinime. Ses.Igne ___________________ Reminder and Invitation All Souls Day in Lithuania is a ?holiday,? i.e. non work day. Everyone, but everyone travels home, to the cemeteries to clean, lay down flowers and candles on the graves of their own family members and on the forgotton grave sites. In Churches following All Souls? Day, for the next seven days special processions of prayer in memory of the dead take place. Something I was not familiar with in the US. All Souls? Day (Nov. 1-2) passes us by in the US, whereas, in Lithuania, the entire country stops and honors the deceased. So, I invite you to experience this Tradition and come to Putnam on November 1st and participate in the Mass at 10 a.m., followed by a gathering of the friends and benefactors of the sisters, have lunch, and be part of the procession to the cemetery and join in the prayers for the deceased. Also, at this time, the tombstone of Antanas Kulbis will be blessed. Ses. Igne
